BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SANDY DINER is the founder and President of the Invest in Children-Legacy. As an active member in community affairs, she developed a vision of an organization that would serve "throwaway" children - the children who slip through the gaps in our society's safety net. Her vision of a healthy and productive future for all children led her to create the Invest in Children Foundation.

DR. JULIE DERRICK is a professor of economics and accounting at Brevard Community College. As a volunteer, she has developed a partnership between the college and area high and middle schools, with a goal of helping youngsters set and achieve academic goals through a variety of activities, including tutoring, mentoring, and training to prevent counterproductive behavior. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Akron and an M.B.A. From Kent State University.

ROGER KALINA, Certified Financial Planner/Chartered Life Underwriter, owns the Benchmark Financial Group, an insurance and financial services firm. He is a Board Member of The Haven and has served on the Boards of the United Way of Palm Beach, Angels in the Outfield, and Mount Sinai Hospital.

LAURA LEWIS spent a year in China teaching English to children and adults. She studied the culture and language there, and traveled throughout parts of Asia. Returning home, she successfully started her own company in web design. She has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Boston University and is using her skills as a web designer to help nonprofit organizations join the web community. She is an active supporter of several nonprofit organizations.

TERRY ROBERTS is the Prevention Clinical Manager for the Prevention/Intervention Division of the Center for Drug-Free Living, Inc., and the Technical Advisor for Orlando Fights Back. He provides support and training in alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention to community agencies and other organizations. Terry previously served as Clinical Director for the Lee Mental Health Center's Crisis Stabilization Unit in Fort Myers. He holds an M.S. Degree in Counseling Psychology.

Advisory Council
MARY SALES is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice since 1991. She specializes in trauma related disorders. She has experience in both public and private sectors including clinical hospital work, program design and implementation, staff supervision and training, and program management. She served in leadership roles on the boards of the South Florida Science Museum and Planetarium and Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition of Florida. She has a Master's Degree in Social Work, is a certified Family Mediator, and is a certified Florida Continuing Education Provider.

Carl S. Rosen is an attorney in the Boca Raton office of Broad and Cassel. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and previously served as a Senior Tax Accountant with KPMG in Fort Lauderdale. Carl's law practice primarily focuses on charitable and estate planning. He received his J.D. From the University of Florida College of Law and his LL.M. from the University of Miami.
